
The department awards Master's degrees and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in the following disciplines:
- Tourism Studies
- Hotel Studies
- Tourism Guidance
Master’s degree
Terms and conditions:
• Applicants must acquire Bachelor's degree in the intended major, with a minimum grade of "GOOD" from the Faculty of Tourism & Hotels Management, or an equivalent degree from another academic institute accredited by the university, or a postgraduate diploma from the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management with minimum grade "GOOD".
• Applicants should apply during the registration period, as to be undergoing the department’s assessment, which is according to the faculty’s council decision and not accepted only by faculty’s approval.
• Applicants must admit that they will be free to study 2 days per week.
• Education period is not less than 2 years.
• Applicants must pass at least 24 units, assigned by the department’s council, where 25% of those units are external ones “assigned by department’ council, according to supervisor’s suggestion and department’s council approval”, all the previous is in addition to “Research methods and discussion rounds” courses.
• To do a research paper with a topic chosen by the faculty’s council, the minimum for “2 years” and maximum for “4 years” starting from the faculty’s council approval date. The faculty council is allowed to extend the registration period according to the supervisor’s report and the department’s council decision, where the registration period should not exceed more than 2 years.
• Applicant must present and discuss the applied research paper with the committee publicly.
Registration cancellation
• If the applicant did not acquire a Master’s degree within four years starting from the registration date, only if the faculty’s council might approve extending the registration period for another period, according to the supervisor’s report.
• In case the supervisor applied a report stating that the research paper is not valid and is approved by the department’s and faculty’s council.
Ph.D. degree
Terms and conditions:
• Applicant must be acquired a Master’s degree from a specialization department from any of the Tourism and Hotels faculties, or any equivalent degree from the known institute, with a minimum grade of “Very Good”.
• Applicants should apply during the registration period, where the request will be presented to the department’s council, as to take the final decision.
• Education period is a minimum “of 2 years” and a maximum “of 5 years”, starting from the faculty’s council approval.
• Applicant must pass at least 32 units from the assigned number of courses by the department’s council, with a minimum grade of “Very Good”, where 25% of those units are external ones assigned by the faculty’s council, according to faculty’s council suggestion.
• To do an innovative research paper assigned by the faculty’s council, according to the suggestion and approval of the department’s council, within a period of “two-year minimum” and “five years maximum”, starting from the faculty’s council approval. The faculty council is allowed to extend the registration period according to the supervisor’s report and the department’s council decision, where the registration period should not exceed more than 2 years.
• To provide research results and to be accepted by the committee.
Registration cancellation:
• In case the applicant did not acquire a Ph.D. degree during the mentioned period in rule no. (21), only if the faculty’s council might approve extending the registration period for another period not exceeding two years.
• If the supervisor provided a report stating that the research paper is not valid and is approved by the department’s and faculty’s council.
