Under the patronage of Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, and under the general supervision of Dr. Mohamed Abdel Naim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels organized the Eighth Student Conference under the title "Artificial Intelligence and Fourth-Generation Universities: A Student Vision Towards Sustainable Development."
The conference was supervised by Dr. Nevine Galal, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, and under the executive supervision of Dr. Bousy Zeidan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, with the participation of Dr. Heba Mohsen Abu Agila, Director of the Academic Support Unit, and Dr. Mohamed Rifaat, Conference Coordinator and Rapporteur.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Naim, who emphasized the importance of integrating artificial intelligence into various fields of life in our modern era. He highlighted the necessity for students to engage with this technological revolution, stating that the conference provides an opportunity for them to express their visions and propose innovative solutions for achieving sustainable development in multiple sectors, including tourism and hospitality, amid the rapid technological transformations we are witnessing.
Dr. Nevine Galal spoke about the significance of students keeping up with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence technology. She stressed the role of universities in developing students' academic and research skills and encouraging them to think critically. She added that the faculty always aims to inspire students to explore and innovate in unconventional fields to expand their future horizons.
In a related context, Dr. Mohamed Yous, Director of the Academic Support Center at the university, pointed out that modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, serve as vital tools for enhancing the educational process and boosting students' competitiveness. He added that supporting these technologies in the university education environment is a necessary step toward the future.
During her speech, Dr. Bousy Zeidan emphasized the role of the conference in fostering interaction between students and faculty members. She noted that the conference aims to enhance students' research capabilities and cultivate a spirit of constructive competition among them. She explained that the conference seeks to discover students' talents and unconventional ideas while honoring outstanding individuals in the fields of science, sports, arts, and culture.
The conference, which featured 14 student research papers, covered multiple topics, including:
- Utilizing modern technology and digitalization in managing archaeological sites.
- Applying artificial intelligence to improve the performance of tourism companies and air transport services.
- AI applications in the hospitality industry.
- The role of fourth-generation universities in adopting these technologies to enhance education quality.
